A refreshing cocktail perfect for summer nights

With warm weather comes patio season, and with patio season comes cocktails. Because, honestly, is there anything better than a summer night spent sipping cocktails whilst a light breeze tosses your hair? (Answer: Nope!)

The Tipsy Traveler

A blackberry peach cocktail made with IngeniOz vodka to represent the beautiful state of Iowa

Happy Monday, lovelies! Today I'm very excited to share a cocktail recipe that I created for the 5 O'Clock Fashionistas new Coaster 2 Coaster series. The lovely Jacque asked me earlier this summer to create a cocktail that represents Iowa for her blog, and I came up with the Tipsy Traveler. It's part blackberry, part peach — and absolutely delicious (if I do say so myself)!

You can read the full post and find the recipe on her blog. I hope you all enjoy it!

The hangover cure in a bottle (plus a recipe for cosmopolitans)

cosmopolitans made with Iowa-made vodka

Have you ever been persuaded to go out with your friends on the night before you had to be up early for something important? And you promise yourself you'll only have two drinks because you refuse to have a hangover for said important thing? But then someone buys a round of shots and your thoughts turn into something along the lines of "What's one more drink?"

Yeah, we've all been there. But one Iowa State University professor might have made the best cure for a hangover yet — vodka.

A new restaurant in Des Moines

A few new restaurants have opened recently in downtown Des Moines, so Adam and I have been trying visit some of them. I love all the new trendy hangouts coming to the area; they all have such great styles, and each has its own unique feel to it. Last week we went to RoCA (short for Restaurant on Court Avenue) and Eatery A (details coming soon!).
