Short hair love
Let's talk about hair. I've always been a fan of hair, but I've never been good at styling it. Example: to this day I cannot make a french braid. For most of my adolescent life I sported a long, lifeless 'do, never giving it much time other than 8 minutes a day to straighten it — which, let's be honest, was a total joke because my hair is straighter than the hair on the models in flat-iron commercials. But I digress. I did get a few perms in my life, because due to the aforementioned straightness, taking a curling iron to my hair resulted in either copious amounts of hairspray or a sad, curl-less mess after a couple hours. Needless to say, something had to be done.
I took the plunge and chopped my hair a couple years ago in college. It was right after Safe Haven came out and I was obsessed with Julianne Hough's short, tousled locks. I've been wearing the medium-short look ever since, fluctuating based on when I remembered to get a haircut. It was during this time that I learned the amazing trick of flat-iron curls. I kid you not: you can spend hours curling my hair with a curling iron, make it look exactly like all the Pinterest pictures and secure it with the best hairspray in the world — and in 2 hours it will be straight again. Every time. But do a little twisting of the straightener and those curls stay locked in all day — and they'll even be there the next morning! A MIRACLE IS UPON US.
So, as you can imagine, I've stuck with this tried and true styling method and I've had a whole new outlook on hair. At least my hair, anyway, because it sucked way less often than it used to. Some days it even looked — dare I say it — good. But in the last few weeks, my hair had become the longest it had been in a long time, reaching just below my shoulders. The curls were no longer bouncy and fun, and with the Iowa humidity starting to introduce itself into our lives again (ugh), I was entering into a losing battle I knew all too well.
That's why I decided to take inspiration from Lucy Hale and chop my hair even further, to the shortest it has been probably since I was a toddler and my mom made my style decisions. And let me tell you: this is the best haircut I've ever had. It takes me 20 minutes to dry, curl and style every day (a must for girls like me who refuse to sacrifice sleep for hair). The best part is that it truly looks like a style now — like I did this on purpose. And with hair, that makes all the difference.
What is the best (or worst!) haircut you've ever had?
P.S. Summer's hottest trend, a striped skirt and a dress to wear to summer weddings

Your hair looks gorgeous! I've had short hair most of my life and at the moment I am trying to grow it out, but in a few years I think I might just chop it short again. xx

Thanks so much, Bridget! Sometimes I miss having long hair (especially being able to throw it up in a messy bun in two seconds!), but I just love how easy short hair is to take of. Thanks for sharing!
