Sorry not sorry, but this Instagram recap is just a tad New York-heavy because, let's be honest, it's the most interesting thing I've done in a while. So let's jump in! I feel like January 2016 can be summed up in one word: snow. Though it hasn't actually snowed that much, the times that it has have been big ones. As I write this, the ground is pretty and snow-covered (and I am happily curled up on the couch with two puppies and a cup of coffee.)
If you happen to be snowed in too, the best way to pass the time is to get a little crafty. I love making DIY projects in the winter, and my latest one was this mini bulletin board that I painted in just a few minutes. It's super simple: all you need is the little cork boards, paint and some painter's tape.
And now to some NYC shots... This was my first view of the city as my plane landed at La Guardia. It was just as spectacular as I expected it to be, and it only got better from there. I looked like such a tourist in the cab to my hotel as I had a huge smile on my face looking at everything out the windows. I loved every minute of it!
And for a PSA: I have never really been a big fan of burgers, but Adam said this place near Times Square called The Counter was his favorite burger place ever, so we went there for dinner on my first night in the city. It. Was. AMAZING. Seriously, I am still dreaming about this burger and these parmesan fries! If you're ever in NY, you need to go!
The Jonas Blizzard definitely cramped our style that weekend, but it sure was beautiful. When we were able to get out for a couple hours in the middle of it, the snow piled on like this in a matter of seconds. When we got back to the hotel, my hair was soaked!
But we didn't let it stop us from seeing a show on Broadway (check that one off the bucket list!). We saw The Book of Mormon on Sunday night, and I loved it so much. I'd never seen it before, and I laughed so hard!
And finally, Times Square. I can't even explain to you how much I love city lights at night, so this scene was for sure one of my favorites from my trip. There's just so much going on at any given time that I could never really picture myself living there. But I can't say I'd hate visiting every year...
Moving on to some beauty favorites of the last month, I have been a repeat offender with several of these nail polishes lately. This Deborah Lippmann set is soft and sweet and is the perfect combo for transitioning from winter to spring. Bonus: it would be perfect for Valentine's Day, if you're into that sort of thing.
And my top beauty buy of the year so far: this MAC lipstick and gloss duo that I CANNOT and WILL NOT stop wearing, probably ever. I've been wanting to try out a nude lip for a long time, but was always too scared to do it. Then I got these two at the MAC store on Fifth Avenue on day one of my trip, and haven't looked back since. There are not enough praising hand emojis in the world to describe how I feel about them!
Follow me on Instagram to see all the fun that comes in February, and here are all my other roundups, if you're in a browsing mood.
