instagram roundup no. 16

Favorite outfits, restaurants, drinks and places from May.

Long weekends are the best, aren't they? All day yesterday, I kept thinking it was Monday only to happily remember it's actually Tuesday! And now we're already starting a new month, which seems impossible, so today I'm doing a little look back at May. Starting with this beautiful view of the Iowa capitol building from the Des Moines Farmers Market (aka the actual best farmers market).

Instagram Roundup No. 15

TGI... oh wait, it's only Wednesday. Bummer. But! Tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo, and we all know what that means: MARGARITAS. Count me in! This topic happens to coincide perfectly with my first photo, which is a delicious taco from a new place called Taco Hangover that opened in West Des Moines a couple months ago. Tasty tacos, amazing salsa and they just opened a new patio this week.

Guess wedges to start summer off on the right foot

Welcome back, friends! I'm jumping into April with an Instagram roundup to share some of the great stuff that happened in March. First up: buying the most perfect pair of Guess wedges there ever was! (Insert heart-eye emoji here.) I first stumbled upon these when I was writing this post, and when I found them in-store at DSW, it was love at first sight.

Instagram roundup No. 13

Too Faced Shadow Insurance and Naked Dolly lipstick

Happy Tuesday, friends! Sorry for being a little MIA last week, but between a(nother) cold and some blah feelings, I felt it was time for an unanticipated tech detox. But I'm back with another little Instagram roundup to get things going here again! First up: two beauty products I'm currently obsessed with. I bought this Too Faced eye shadow primer on a friend's recommendation, and I don't think I'll ever use anything else! And this Naked Dolly Too Faced lipstick had been on my wish list for a while, and I finally splurged. I need to get a good lip liner for it, but the color is beautiful!

Instagram roundup No. 12

My favorite Instagram memories from January 2016.

Sorry not sorry, but this Instagram recap is just a tad New York-heavy because, let's be honest, it's the most interesting thing I've done in a while. So let's jump in! I feel like January 2016 can be summed up in one word: snow. Though it hasn't actually snowed that much, the times that it has have been big ones. As I write this, the ground is pretty and snow-covered (and I am happily curled up on the couch with two puppies and a cup of coffee.)

Instagram Roundup No. 11

My favorite memories from December 2015
I don't know about you guys, but 2015 was a pretty great year in my book. A lot of great things happened last year, but I think even better things are yet to come in 2016. Before we jump into the new year, here's my last Instagram roundup from 2015, starting with this fun sequined number I wore in honor of the Season of Sparkles.

Instagram Roundup No. 10

My life in November, via Instagram

Happy first day of December! Is anyone else freaking out just a little bit that Christmas is only 24 days away? Just me? Well, even if I am (slightly) overwhelmed with all I have to do before the holiday hits, I'm still excited for December. And for this Instagram roundup! November has been a great month, and here are some of the highlights...

Instagram Roundup No. 7

August Instagrams: Shania Twain kills it onstage in Des Moines

New month, new Instagram roundup! I love doing these roundups because it gives me a chance to look back on the last month and remember everything I've done, like a visual journal. Starting from the top, my sister and I took my mom to see Shania Twain for her birthday, and it was AMAZING. This was definitely my favorite concert of the summer — and possibly ever!

Instagram Roundup No. 6

anthropologie coffee mug and audrey hepburn book

July has been a crazy-busy month, so I wanted to give you a glimpse of what's been going on before we get too far into August. As you know, I've been renovating my bedroom a little bit, and I'm finally in the "final stages" part of the renovation journey. I've been having a lot of fun adding pops of color and personality to my room, including this monogrammed coffee mug and Audrey Hepburn coffee table book.

Instagram roundup No. 5

Ok, seriously — where did June even go?! I feel like it JUST started, but nope, the 4th of July has already come and gone... With so many things going on, this summer is really flying. Now I'm trying to schedule time to do all the things Adam and I still have left on our summer bucket list! But I can't say this summer hasn't been a pretty great one so far, because we have done a lot already. First up: the Ed Sheeran concert last month. We had pretty much the worst seats possible (literally seated in the last row of the highest section in the back corner!), but it was still so great. Ed is a musical boss. If you have the chance to see him live, take it!

The sweetest new Instagram account

In case you thought true love was lost for good, Brooklyn Sherman, the 27-year-old behind The Way We Met, is here to show you otherwise. A few weeks ago she started an Instagram account to showcase real couples and the stories of how they met, and it is so sweet.

The account has already garnered tons of publicity — and rightfully so, because it is so fun to read the love stories from the beautiful couples featured there. Brooklyn is originally from the Midwest but now lives in L.A., and says she started The Way We Met because she's a hopeless romantic looking to find real people who are in love. She writes this in her first blog post:
"I'm on a mission. I'm on a mission to find the people out there who ARE in a committed relationships [sic]. Where did they find each other? How did they meet? What is the key to a successful relationship? How are they turning insta-happy into a lifetime of happiness?"
I love the idea behind this. Once I found out about the account, I lost track of time reading through the stories. This one is my favorite.

Are you following The Way We Met? What do you think of the idea?

P.S. How to keep the sparks alive and how to fight successfully
