Long weekends are the best, aren't they? All day yesterday, I kept thinking it was Monday only to happily remember it's actually Tuesday! And now we're already starting a new month, which seems impossible, so today I'm doing a little look back at May. Starting with this beautiful view of the Iowa capitol building from the Des Moines Farmers Market (aka the actual best farmers market).

This mock turtleneck dress from Charming Charlie has been on major repeat lately (it's even in my bag for Florida!) and it was less than $30 (I can't find it online, but they have it in stores). I've never liked turtlenecks, but I can't get enough of the mock turtleneck dresses this year. They can be classy and casual at the same time, and I love it.

I became a repeat visitor at Exile Brewing Co. in May, for dinner, drinks and brunch. In my opinion, it's easily one of the best restaurants in Des Moines. The food is amazing, the cocktails are great and it's all reasonably priced. Plus, it's got a great vibe to it. If you're in the area, I highly recommend it!

You know by now that statement earrings are my jam this year. Pair them with a great pair of sunnies and you're immediately — and effortlessly — summer-ready.

One of my favorite parts of working out is buying cute gear (duh) and these cutout tights from Forever 21 are my latest obsession. Forever 21 has a surprisingly great selection of activewear — good quality for a small cost. It's one of my favorite spots to shop fitness lately.

I recreated my latest summer cocktail for our first pontoon excursion last weekend, and my theory was proven: watermelon + cucumber = the perfect drink for sipping in the sunshine.

This bra and tank are also from Forever's activewear section, and this is honestly one of my favorite sports bras of all time. Obviously not the one to wear for a marathon or intense cross-training sesh, but definitely a must for adding a little flair. I've worn it with sporty looks and even with dresses.

And finally, the view from the boat on Sunday was perfection. There's seriously nothing better than soaking up the sun and being surrounded by waves and your favorite people. Here's hoping there will be many more days spent like this in the next few months!
