best of the red carpet: Golden Globes

Best dressed of the 2016 Golden Globes

Happy Tuesday everyone! Did anyone else watch the Golden Globes on Sunday night? I love watching award shows, mainly because I love hearing and reading what everyone has to say about them during the week that follows — did J.Law trip again? could Ricky Gervais actually stick to a mostly-clean monologue? was that joke funny or just inappropriate? And of course, the best dressed lists. Today I'm going through some of my favorite looks from the Golden Globes red carpet, because I think most girls can agree red carpet gowns are the epitome of fashion.

Jennifer Lawrence stuns in a red Dior gown at the Golden Globes 2016

Jennifer Lawrence was a modern Lady in Red in her Dior gown. The cutouts added a sexy surprise element, while the sleek cut and diamond necklace kept the look classy.

Jennifer Lopez stuns in a bright yellow caped gown at the Golden Globes 2016

Jennifer Lopez's sunshine vibes in Giambattista Valli had me dreaming of summer. I was surprised to see so little skin showing from JLo, but I had to say I loved the high neck and cape look.

Portia Doubleday stuns in a metallic gown at the Golden Globes 2016

Portia Doubleday dressed up as the classy disco ball in Naeem Khan, bringing a much-needed dose of shine and sparkle to the party. The simple design of the dress really let the  mirrored texture be the star.

Alicia Vikander stuns in a white gown at the Golden Globes 2016

Alicia Vikander's uniquely stunning white gown by Louis Vuitton was a surprising favorite of mine, as the square cut and ruffles made me first think of an apron, but I loved the open back and feminine flow. Simply elegant.

Jaimie Alexander stuns in a geometric gown at the Golden Globes 2016

Jaimie Alexander's geometric plunge by Genny was a showstopper in the best way possible. The cut is very flattering on her, and the metallic shapes add an unusual touch to a classic cut.

Kirsten Dunst stuns in a strappy LBD at the Golden Globes 2016

Kirsten Dunst was held together by strings in Valentino, and the more I looked at her gown the more I loved it. Classic with a twist, it definitely deserved that double take.

Olivia Wilde stuns at the Golden Globes 2016

Olivia Wilde's glam getup by Michael Kors was pretty much a universal favorite, and for good reason. The fit is flattering, the color is gorgeous and it has just enough texture to make it interesting.

Julianne Moore stuns in midnight blue at the Golden Globes 2016

Julianne Moore was a midnight vision in Tom Ford, with the classy long sleeves and straight skirt. The asymmetrical shoulder cut added a subtle but unique touch.

Helen Mirren stuns in an LBD at the Golden Globes 2016

Helen Mirren took the LBD to a new level in Badgely Mischka, and I for one thought her look was unstoppable. The beautiful off-shoulder look with mesh details added just enough to keep it different and interesting.
